Are you in a trial marriage? Is it good for you? Should trial marriage be encouraged? First, what is Trial marriage? Trial marriage is when a man and a woman lives together as if they were legally married. This has become a growing trend today, and different reason is given by the man and woman for cohabiting together with out taking the proper step. In some culture it is the norm that a man and woman must live together before marriage. Various reasons have been given by those involved for this , some couples claim that living together before marriage will help them test their compatibility before marriage, but is this always the case? Some couple will also claim they live together to confirm their fertility status before they tie the knot. The truth is trial marriage guarantees nothing, the fact that you lived together for several years to test your compatibility does not in anyway guarantee a successful marriage, also using it to confirm the fertility status of your partner does not guarantee that you might not face fertility issues in your marriage.
The originator of marriage never intended for couples to live together for whatever reason they might claim without a proper marriage. When a man and woman lives together without legalizing their marriage , this is simply referred to as fornication. A proper courtship can help you and your partner check how compatible both of you are rather than having a live in relationship. Most times in a trial marriage the man may not even be motivated to legalize the marriage as nothing excites him again since he already has the cow so why go for the milk. Instead of living together to check your fertility status or put the woman in a family way to prove her fertility, you and your partner should do medical check up to confirm your fertility status instead.
Most importantly Trial marriage does not test one of the most crucial elements of marriage – commitment. No matter how long you live with your partner it would never be the same as marriage and since there is no commitment ,the union is not dignifying and would not give you peace of mind as your partner can opt out anytime without being answerable to you or anyone.
Trial marriage does not offer the same degree of protection to you and any children that may result from that union. Would you want your children to be referred to as illegimate? of course Not. living together consensually with your partner without getting married will rob you of the benefits of marriage.Thus , do you think Trial marriage is good for you? of course not.
